Andersen Award 2018 – Susanna Mattiangeli

The jury of the 37th Italian Andersen Prize, the most prestigious Italian Award for children’s literature, just announced this year’s winners.

The award for Best Writer of the Year goes to Susanna Mattiangeli, published in Italy by Il Castoro. Here’s the motivation of the jury:

“For the quality of her writing, that relies on a distinctive style and on the ability to naturally express the feelings of childhood.  For being able to recount from the children’s point of view a poetical chronicle of everyday life – made of actual facts or emotions – sometimes amused, sometimes pensive, and always able to perfectly depict the complexity of the thinking and the feeling of the youngest.

Il Castoro, exclusively represented in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries by Ute Körner Literary Agent, has published the following titles so far:

Come funziona la maestra?/ How the Teacher Really Works? (picture book) + info

Avete visto Anna? / Have you Seen Anna? (picture book) + info

Uno come Antonio / Someone like Anthony (picture book) + info

Matita HB / HB Pencil (middle-grade fiction) + info

The award ceremony will be held on May 26th at Palazzo Ducale in Genova, part of a bigger program of events dedicated to children’s literacy and children’s literature

Our best compliments to Susanna Mattiangeli and to Il Castoro for this marvellous award!
