A Wedding Night is the second book of Adalet Ağaoğlu’s Hard Times trilogy.
Similar to the first book of the trilogy, the story develops within a limited time. The protagonist, Aysel is invited to a wedding at a ball room this time.
The book opens with one of the cult sentences of Turkish literature: “Let’s drink if we are not going to commit suicide!”
During the wedding, she observes the relationship between the guests and witnesses the alliance between the army, business world and the Ankara elite of 1970s.
