Sybil Volks is an author based in Berlin.
Her second novel, “Torstraße 1” (2022), a fictionalised account of the Jonass department store’s eventful history, was a bestseller and turned into a popular TV series (“Das Haus der Träume” / “The house of dreams”).
She followed it up with her bestselling “Wintergäste” (“Winter guests”) and “Die Glücksreisenden” (“Happy travellers”), two classic family dramas set on a fictional North Sea island that acts a microcosmic mirror of our own age.
Her latest novel, “Café Finito”, is a vividly written tale set in Berlin’s most famous cemetery, the Dorotheenstädtische Friedhof.
