Begoña Oro

Begoña Oro was born in Zaragoza. In 2024, she received the Cervantes Chico Award for “the quality, scope, and objective popularity of her work in children’s and young adult literature.”

More than a million children have begun reading with her books. She is also the author of poetry books and numerous books for pre-readers. She is also the author of young adult novels, with works such as Pomelo y limón (winner of the 2011 Gran Angular Award and the 2012 Hache Award) or Tú tan cáncer y yo tan virgo (winner of the Jaén Award), written with scientist Alberto J. Schuhmacher.

She has received the Arts and Letters Award and the Lazarillo Award for illustrated books for Un fuego rojo, with Paloma Corral.

Some of his works have been translated into German, Korean, Greek, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Persian, Turkish…
