A bold, funny picture book that turns young readers into heroes as they stand up to a vain and tyrannical lion and discover the power of speaking the truth.
In the African savannah, the vain lion Irule builds a new, ugly palace and orders everyone to admire it. Any animal who dares to tell the truth is immediately eaten, and fear silences the whole community. When Irule, hungry for more praise, turns to the reader and tries to attack their face, he discovers that he cannot escape the pages of the book and exhausts himself. With the tyrant neutralized, a tiny mosquito is the first to openly admit that he dislikes both the palace and the lion’s behavior. He then inspires all the animals to speak up and, as they recover their voices, they magically grow wings and fly free.
