Marta Balmaseda was born in Gijón, Spain. After studying art for the teaching profession at the University of Fine Arts in Sevilla, she engaged in illustrating, graphic design and wall painting for several years. While still living in Spain, she already illustrated several children’s books for various publishers. Today Marta Balmaseda lives and works in Regensburg.
She has worked with several Spanish publishers like Edebé, Anaya, Edelvives and Bruño.
She has illustrated a lot of series for Arena Verlag, such as The Muffin Club, The Super Secret Small Paw Gang or Lillemi and the Wolf.
