The Expert’s Report

In the summer of 1977, a car accident occurs on a country road shortly after Bonn, in which not only sheet metal, but worlds collide.

The young RAF sympathiser Miriam Becker dies in her car and there is no trace of the person who caused the accident. Mr. Martin, a minor employee of the forensic medicine department, has very personal reasons to take a closer look at this case.

With «Das Gutachten» (The Expert’s Report), Jennifer Daniel shows how fresh a graphic novel about post-war German society can be.
Narratively and graphically impressive, she paints the picture of a man who tries to drown his memories in alcohol. Until a young woman dies. His investigation puts Mr Martin on the trail of the person responsible, but also mercilessly exposes his own, painstakingly repressed responsibility.
