An affecting search for the truth on Sumatra’s sugar plantations
Since her husband’s death, Lilly’s life has been a largely humdrum affair.
One day, a stranger enters her little antiques shop and hands her a beautiful violin. He doesn’t want to sell it – he claims it belongs to her. Lilly is puzzled, but feels magically drawn to the instrument. What does the rose etched onto the back mean? And what about the sheet music someone has left in the violin case?

As Gabriel discovers new clues, he becomes more and more fascinated by the mysterious violin – and by Lilly…
