"This is a heart-warming story about the importance of trees to the environment as well as a gentle message about environmental activism...This is a book with an important but not overstated message that will be enjoyed by beginning readers and as a read-aloud for younger ones. " CBCA Reading Time
"There is plenty to discuss here. Friendship, helping neighbours, refugees, sustainable forestry, taking action are just some of the themes worth exploring. For the very young counting the trees and the birds could be fun, while everyone will enjoy being the stomping roaring Tree Rex". Magpies Magazine
A lovely story of environmental activism.
Rex loves counting and hugging every one of his twenty-one trees. So, he is absolutely heartbroken when one of his trees goes missing? Where could it be? Who could have taken it?
Rex isn’t the only one who wants to know. A little bird who lost her home comes to him for help. Together, and with a group of feathered friends, they hatch a plan to scare away the tree cutters once and for all.
