Hans, Petra and their eleven year old son decide to spend their summer camping on the shore of Lake Garda in Italy. Quickly, Niels makes friends and soon he spends his day cavorting with them on the campsite. Until, one night, he does not make it back to the tent for curfew. A worried Hans goes looking for him and makes a horrible discovery. In the bushes, he finds the body of a boy. Niels is close by and he is in shock.
Because the supposed murderer drowns in the lake after Hans chases him, the police considers the case closed. Back home, a traumatized Niels goes into therapy, because he still cannot talk about that night. But, a few months later, they hear that someone else has been murdered in the same area. Niels starts remembering more and more about his trauma and the police ask them to return to Italy for the investigation. And they should not have done that…
