For the first time the Young Literature Houses in Germany have created a category for children and juvenile creatives, and the first winner has been author and illustrator Franziska Biermann.
Since her debut in 1998 with illustrating her first children book, she has not stopped publishing, and her books have been translated in more than 14 languages.
The most recent one is the series “Jacky Marrone” (dtv) which was nominated to the German National Book Awards in 2019.
“Jacky Marrone” is being published in Spanish and Catalan by Edebé.
