The performing festival guests from the section »International Children’s and Young Adult Literature« nominates every year an exceptional book for the annual International Literature Festival Berlin Award The Extraordinary Book.
La casa sull´albero (The House in the Tree) by Bianca Pitzorno and illustrated by Quentin Blake has been awarded this year as The Extraordinary Book 2018 as part of this section and the book will be exhibited, together with the other selected titles, at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, at the Philipp Schaeffer Library and at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek. More than 30.000 people will see the three exhibitions during the festival and read in the awarded books.
Bianca Pitzorno, shortlisted for the 2014 Andersen Award, is one of the greatest and bestselling Italian writers for children, published in Italy by Mondadori Children, represented exclusively by Ute Körner in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries.
