Maria Gargot was born in Barcelona in 1991. She studied illustration at the CIFO, painting at the Massana School and Fine Arts at the UB. She finished her career specializing in drawing at the University of Porto.
She combined her studies with training related to theater, creativity, art therapy and psychodance, from where she investigates ways of transferring concepts and experiences of mindfulness to artistic practice.
In her imaginary she prioritizes symbolism, a sense of humor, tenderness and the essence of things. She uses the expressiveness of the stain and the error in the line to narrate and discover new characters, landscapes and stories to tell.
Walking through nature, observing it, listening to it and collecting elements inspires and nurtures her methodology.
She has worked as a graphic designer, drawing teacher, workshop teacher and has participated in exhibitions such as the Galàctica (Igualada), the Utopía Mercados Ilustrace, the MIA, the galleries Setba, Esther Montoriol, Espai [B] and Miscelnea.
She currently combines personal projects with illustration commissions for the press and editorial.
