María Menéndez-Ponte began writing in the 1990s, after having published numerous articles in Galician newspapers, having lived for five years in New York and having graduated in Hispanic Philology. Although she writes both novels and short stories, her texts are mainly aimed at young children. Her career has been awarded the Cervantes Chico Award and the Golden Book for the novel Nunca seré tu héroe (I will never be your hero). She has also collaborated in the production of textbooks, musical projects, scripts, and articles in newspapers and magazines.
