Dave Eggers is an acclaimed and bestselling author of books for readers of all ages, including the Newbery Medal winner The Eyes and the Impossible and the illustrated books Faraway Things, Her Right Foot, and What Can a Citizen Do? He is the founder of the independent publishing company McSweeney’s and a cofounder of 826 Valencia, a youth writing center—fronted by a supply store for working pirates—that has inspired dozens of other organizations worldwide. In 2025 he opened the International Library of Young Authors, a San Francisco center dedicated to the work of storytellers ages six through eighteen.
