Vera Buck, born in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1986, studied journalism, European literary studies, and screenwriting in Europe and Hawaii. She lives in Zurich and works as a freelance author. Her first novel, Runa, was nominated for the 2016 Friedrich Glauser Prize.
In 2023, her thriller debut Wolfskinder was also nominated for the Glauser Prize. This was followed by Das Baumhaus (2024) and Der dunkle Sommer (2025), both of which made it into the Top 20 of the SPIEGEL bestseller list.
