Sophia Wilk-Vollmann studied medicine in Jena from 2010 to 2016 and subsequently earned her doctorate. Since 2016, she has worked as a physician at the Berlin Military Hospital, where she currently serves as a senior attending physician in emergency medicine. Alongside her clinical work, she conducts research in emergency and disaster medicine, communication, and patient safety. She also founded a company dedicated to discrimination-sensitive education in aesthetic medicine.
Her experiences in the German Armed Forces as both an officer and a physician, including deployments to South Africa, Mali, and Afghanistan, have left a lasting mark on her. In 2019, she opened her own minimally invasive aesthetic medicine practice, where she advocates for self-determination and greater diversity within the field of aesthetic medicine.
Health is also a matter of security. Those without access to medical care live in a constant state of emergency. Drawing on my experience as a doctor and soldier, I advocate as a Global Health Champion for global health to be recognized not as a secondary priority, but as the foundation of stability, dignity, and peace.
