Justin Steinfeld (1886–1970) was a German journalist, theatre critic, and writer. He went into exile in Prague in 1933 following the Nazi rise to power, and later to the United Kingdom in 1939, where he lived until his death. CALIFA, OR THE LOVE FOR ANNA, THE POWER ENGINEER, was written in 1955, but since Steinfeld lived through the turn of the century, both World Wars, and the rise of Nazism in Germany, he couldn’t publish it during his lifetime, and it came out for the first time in March 2024 by Nautilus.
