Hans Pleschinski, born 1956, lives in Munich. He has published, among others, the novels Leichtes Licht (The Light in Tenerife, C.H.Beck, 2005), Ludwigshöhe (The Villa Ludwigshöhe, C.H.Beck, 2008), and Königsallee (The Magician in Düsseldorf: A Novel of Thomas Mann, C.H.Beck, 2013, sold to Turkey and Russia), which became a bestseller.
He is also the editor of the letters of Madame de Pompadour, a selection of excerpts from the diaries of Herzog von Croÿand the memoirs of Else Sohn-Rethel. To date, he has received the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize (2006) and the Nicolas-Born-Prize (2008).
He also was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres of the Republic of France in 2012 and received the 2014 Literature Prize of the city of Munich as well as the Lower Rhine Literature Prize.
Pleschinski is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.
