Berta Cusó

Berta Cusó is an illustrator and comic artist based in Berlin.

Born in Barcelona, she studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and Art and Architecture at the CCNY in New York City. Later, she complemented her education on illustration at the AID in Berlin.

Her background in architecture allowed her to work closely with artists and curators designing spaces for installations, festivals and shows internationally.

Her pictorial work has been exhibited in Barcelona, New York and Berlin.

Currently, her work focuses on illustration and comics. Her world is colorful, full of detail and often with an implicit humor, telling stories without the need for too many words. Her children illustrations have a poetic touch whilst adult drawings have an acidic, sometimes grotesque, character. Her non-fiction comic Paral·lel was finalist at the International Ara Prize for Comics in Catalan in 2020.

She enjoys drawing stories about mundane characters, blending reality with surrealism.
