Arena Verlag was founded in 1949 and is today one of the most prominent publishers of childrens books in Germany, specialized in fiction as well as non-fiction which includes titles for all age groups from the beginner to the young adult. Arena‘s program includes board books, picture books, childrens and young adults novels, colouring books, non fiction, activity, educational activity, encyclopaedias and reference books.
The company was the first German childrens book publisher to start a separate pocket-book program in 1958. In 1987 Arena took over the childrens book department of Benziger Verlag, continuing it as Edition Bücherbär, and in 2000 the Ensslin Verlag. Books from Arena have won numerous awards and have been translated into many languages.
