Regina Scheer, born in 1950, studied theatre and cultural science at the Humboldt University in East Berlin. From 1972 to 1976 she worked for the weekly Forum magazine, followed by freelance contributions of reports, essays, song texts and editorial work for the Temperamente literature magazine.
After 1990, she was involved in exhibitions, films and anthologies and has published several books on German-Jewish history. She was awarded the Mara Cassens Prize in 2014 for her bestselling debut novel, “Machandel”.
