Pier Mario Biava graduated in Medicine from the University of Pavia, specializing first in occupational medicine at the University of Padua and then in hygiene at the University of Trieste. He has dedicated many years to the study of stem cell growth and differentiation factors. He has isolated factors capable of inhibiting or slowing the growth of various types of human tumors and influencing the fate of normal and pathological stem cells. He has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2025.
