Mireia Vidal (Barcelona 1972) has a degree in Geography and History, specialising in Art History. Daughter of a bookseller, she has been attracted to reading and stories since she was a child.
She began her professional career working in cinema as an assistant director, but she soon focused on scriptwriting, collaborating on feature films, series, TV movies and children’s programmes (“Una mà de contes”), which she combines with teaching scriptwriting.
Her literary career began in 2017 with the children’s novel “La capitana Dofí” (Animallibres) followed by the illustrated album “Plous o fas Sol?” (Akiarabooks), which won the Critics’ Prize Serra d’or (2020).
Since then she has published different books such as “El árbol del Señor Shaun” (Thule), “On és casa meva?” (Cruïlla) and several volumes of the adventures of “La Tina i en Pop” (Cruïlla). In the coming months her new book “Les deu cartes de la Lia” (Cruïlla) will see the light.
Apart from that, she especially likes cats, cows, tree branches, tea, a ray of sunshine in winter and a good downpour in summer.
