Karl-Markus Gauß was born in 1954 in Salzburg, where he still lives and works as an Author and publisher of the magazine Literatur und Kritik. His books have been translated into numerous languages and have received many prizes, including the Prix Charles Veillon, the Austrian Art Prize for Literature, the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize, the Jean Améry Prize and just very recently the Leipzig Book Award for European Understanding 2022. His most recent publications with Zsolnay are Abenteuerliche Reise durch mein Zimmer (2019) and Die unaufhörliche Wanderung (2020).
