Cordelia Edvardson (1929–2012), born in Munich, lived in Berlin with her mother, the writer Elisabeth Langgässer, until 1943. At the age of 14, she was deported via Theresienstadt to Auschwitz. When the war ended, she worked as a journalist in Sweden. During the Yom Kippur War in 1973, she moved to Israel.
For “Burned Child Seeks the Fire” (first published by Hanser in German in 1986), she received the Geschwister-Scholl Prize.
