Clivia von Dewitz, is a Youth Court judge in Northern Germany (born in Hamburg), currently on sabbatical.
She has conducted research in New Zealand, Canada and the US (Alaska and Hawaii) on restorative justice and indigenous justice. In 1997 she interned at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa and wrote a book on how South Africa dealt with the apartheid past. Her PhD is on how Germany addressed Nazi-propaganda after 1945.
In 2023 her latest book was published, a manual on Restorative Justice for judges and public prosecutors. She has provided trainings for judges in Tunisia on democracy and human rights (2014) and judges and prosecutors on restorative justice in Nepal (2019) and Brazil (2018) and Germany.
