Kim Amate studied illustration, graphic design, and painting. He worked as a graphic designer and prepress technician until 2009, when he moved into publishing as a freelance illustrator, designer, and layout designer, primarily for children and juvenile audiences.
In 2009, Kim Amate received the 29th Destino – Apel·les Mestres Award for the picture book La ventana infinita (The Infinite Window), by Andrés Pi Andreu.
