Susanne Strasser

Susanne Straßer, born in 1976 in Erding, works as a freelance illustrator and author. She studied communication design at Munich University of Applied Sciences and then completed a master’s degree at Central Saint Martins College in London.

Her work has been honoured and exhibited internationally, including at the ‘Biennale in Bratislava’. Her picture book ‘Das Märchen von der Prinzessin, die unbedingt in einem Märchen vorkommen wollte’ (Hinstorff Verlag) was made into a film in 2013.

She has developed a series of successful cardboard picture books for Peter Hammer Verlag, which were awarded the ‘Prix P’tits Mômes’ and 2nd place at the ‘Troisdorf Picture Book Prize’ in 2019. For the illustrations for ‘If God were a rabbit’, she received the ‘Troisdorf Picture Book Prize’ for the second time in 2023 (2nd place).

She sometimes teaches illustration at Munich University of Applied Sciences.
