Salvador Macip (Blanes, 1970) is a doctor, researcher and writer. He heads a research group at the University of Leicester, where he is a professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, and is also a lecturer and researcher at the UOC. He has published some forty works, including novels, essays and children’s books. His work has been translated into nine languages and has won prizes such as the Joaquim Ruyra Prize (2010), the Charlemagne Prize (2012), the European Prize for the Popularisation of Science (2013) and the Ramon Muntaner Prize (2016). His novels include the trilogy Manipulació (Manipulation) and the trilogy L’Emigrant (The Emigrant). He is a regular contributor to various media for popular science.
